Update from Poland

The Polish Ministry of Internal Affairs has reported, over 7.8 million Ukrainians have crossed the border into Poland since February 24, 2022. Because valid passports are no longer required for entry into Poland, the mile-long lines of families seeking refuge continue to grow.

We are in the midst of an ongoing crisis which will undoubtedly change the face of Eastern Europe for years to come.

Proem is mobilizing volunteers and assets to meet this growing need. We have opened a new “Help Center” in Tomaszów, in June 2022, welcoming as many refugees as possible. Since its opening, we have welcomed over 1,100 Ukrainian refugees. During their stay, we continually prepare beds, meals, and gather needed supplies in order to serve and host as many families as we are physically able to. Several Proem workers who are Ukrainian are assisting with translation, care and providing transport for people seeking refuge in Poland. Proem is also mobilizing our supply of buses and vans to transport those refugees who are able to reach the border.

Get to Know Poland

The fall of communism in East-Central Europe actually began with “solidarity,” a reform movement that originated in Poland, starting in 1980.

While Christianity has a history in Poland dating back to AD 966, most Poles today have only a nominal faith. Only 25% are actively engaged in a church.

Poland was accepted into NATO in 1999 and joined the European Union in 2004.

Poland is bordered by the Baltic Sea, Ukraine, Belarus, Germany, Slovakia and Czechia, making it centrally located in Europe and allowing Proem to share the Gospel beyond the borders, into neighboring countries and abroad.
